Conjure the Wind (Turbines)

I feel like I've been losing grasp on how to get through life effectively... there have been numerous school assessments, extra-curricular activities, camps, dramas... quite overwhelmed.

The only escape I really have is on the internet (blogging) and watching an army of cats attack a pigeon on Youtube. In fact, anything on the internet that has cats involved is automatically bookmarked and saved for a day where my sanity is approaching the point of extinction.

Fluro Orange Shirt - Ralph Lauren (Thrifted)
Thermal Shirt - Urban Outfitters
Brick Jeans - 21Men (Forever21)
Electric Blue Eska Shoe - Ted Baker

I've been vicariously avoiding my upcoming mathematics assessment which I am inevitably going to fail. It's better to just accept the fact now that I will undoubtedly struggle and die and that I'm better off drinking and sipping tea whilst browsing Net-a-Porter for the whole weekend as opposed to studying.

Clearly, I am the Mathematics Department's star student.

If you follow me on Instagram (@EugeneandYen) or Twitter, you should know by now that I am head over heels over electric blues and complimenting shades of. Seriously, I  bought a pair of desert boots off ASOS in electric blue without thinking because I KNEW Karma only throws deals like that in once in a while... Nobody should trust me with a credit card.

I hope everybody is staying happy and warm (in Australia) - it's bloody freezing down here! I'm fairly content with Thermal shirt keeping me warm from these damn winds that seem to be the handiwork of Satan himself.  The winter break is coming up! Expect more posts then. Love and Peace Gremlins! x

Alexander Wang Pre-Fall 2012

(Alexander Wang 2012 Pre-Fall Collection)

Alex Wang has always been credited for creating feminine looks with a masculine touch. I'd just like for everyone to step back and look at the beauty of his pre-fall 2012 collection. The linear movement, clean cut shapes, blocked base colours... it's quite beautiful. It's what I'd call Audrey Hepburn gone wild.

With that said however, I'm a massive fan of clean cut shapes and patterns, and Wang has not failed to impress me once more (as he always does) with a variety of gorgeous frills, pleats and overlapping materials. It's all very elegant and refined, with it showcasing the technical skill and mastery Alex Wang has in utilising effective linear perspective.

This collection is probably one of my favourites that Wang has produced. The heavy usage of blocking in blacks, greys and whites is used in a way that is fresh and modern, with it not becoming another recreation of the infamous 1960s abominable colour scheme.
The clean and precise cropping of shirts, vests and my favourite - pants, are mixed and matched to not only be very feminine, but also quite masculine (his signature style). By juxtaposing cropped skirts with pants, tri-shade greys and cropped trousers, Wang has created a deliciously amazing line for women - versatile and direct. To sum it up in a phrase? Feminist chic.

The perfect combination of elegance and badass-ery. It's like Wang has mixed the classic blazer with  an amazing pleated skirt to create an amazing combination of sophisticated office worker with naughty school girl. Similarly, he's also REINVENTED the blazer by removing the standard collar using different materials for small areas of the pockets and lining. Yet again, badass levels are overwhelming.

Now here comes my favourite. Frills!!! By putting a series of  frills at the bottom of an already cut and cropped skirt is probably the freshest take I've seen on the conventional skirt this current season. It's very suggestive and quite sexy for the modern woman to have a skirt that's both modest and fun. Props to Alex.

Additionally, the almost half pencil, half shift dress has this stunning wrap around design. Yet again, same idea of modest but fun. Amazing usage of the colour scheme he's set for himself. By following the sullen, earthy, rich colour scheme but wanting to do something different, brown has become the obvious solution. I can't say that I've legitimately seen any brown dresses I've liked for both colour and style but this one hits both right on the head. The two shades of brown are almost complementary - metallic and blocked. Amazing.

Bear Necessities

Don't worry everybody, I'm alive. It's been quite a while since I've last put my fingers to the keyboard and  got someone to get their camera to help me blog. But my long inconsistent absence is a direct cause of my callous assessment schedule on par with a crap load of critical readings I have to do for school... which leads me, full circle back to the point that I have indeed not blogged in a while.

My presence will be more regular because of the winter months (It usually means I hibernate at home and do nothing but drink warm beverages and go on TV show marathons)  and I'll be a more reliable blogger for you all. (ha! We've all that one before!)

SWEATER: POLO RALPH LAUREN

I've been struggling to find strength that I could use to get out of bed in the morning lately, which is probably the direct result of near freezing temperatures in the middle of the night which makes me unable to even fall asleep. After close consideration as to what I should do, I think the only logical solution is to bitch about it on my blog in the hopes someone can tell me how to keep warm at night. (I already have 2 blankets and a crappy heater) Boarding school quality anything really is just the embodiment of mediocrity.

Do hot water bottles work? Someone please tell me, It's the next thing I'm going to try.

Lana Del Rey has released a relatively new song with the same title to Florence + the Machine's Never Let me Go.  Both Florence and Lana are my favourite divas at the moment; so now that I have two versions of a song with the same title, I never want to let my music library go. (Eugene you really should stop with the humour)

Have a listen. I imagine it to be the soundtrack of ecstasy.
